" When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence."- Ansel Adams

Laurie Fendrich is a painter and professor of fine arts at Hofstra University. In her blog she gives an explanation about why it seems that people under-apprieciate art and why people feel uncomfortable talking about it. Most commonly people either like it, hate it or are indifferent towards it. Even though people have these opinions they don't like to put them in words because they are intimidated. They often have an especially hard time with modern art because it doesn't fit their expectations of being beautiful.

Silence relates to my work because I don't like to speak, give explanations or even title my work. I've always had problems with words. Words commonly for me make things less clear and more complicated. This is both words I hear and words I use. I think that my photographs convey or represent silence. They settings and compositions are quiet which is reinforced with the black and white film.
