9/5 Artist Entry- Cole Thompson

A few years ago when I was in junior seminar we had to submit to a handful of shows. I got carried away and submitted to 16 juried shows. Cole Thompson was another artist who got into many of the shows I submitted to. So I took an interest in his work. He is a black and white digital photographer. I thought his photos were really good. He has a great eye and I wanted to be able to do what he was doing photographically.

" Cole Thompson was born in Salina, Kansas. Cole's father was in the Air Force and so Cole Thompson and his family moved around quite a bit. Cole Thompson was fortunate enough to live in Rochester, New York and this is where Cole was led to read the biography of George Eastman, the modern father of popular photography. From there Cole Thompson began a life long fascination with black and white photography. In 2004 Cole Thompson took the radical step of converting to digital and had to wrestle with new ethical questions that arose from the advances in technology."

" I believe you should create what you love, love what you create, and be true to you vision."

" From the very beginning , think of yourself as an artist and not a photographer. Find your vision and hen seek to be true to it. Define early on what your definition of success is and forget other people's definitions."

I don't believe he has a gallery that represents his work.
